The Role of the BSA UK Board
The BSA UK Board is essential to our mission, ensuring effective governance, strategic direction, and responsible financial management. The Board is composed of Founders, elected Executive Officers, General Committee members selected through student elections, and our Advisory Board.
Our governance structure promotes transparency, accountability, and representation, giving students a voice in BSA UK’s direction and priorities. The Board oversees decisions that align with BSA UK’s core mission: to support and empower Bangladeshi students in the UK through community building, advocacy, and resource provision.
Board Composition and Responsibilities
● Governing Board: Our Founders team is mainly Governing Board, and it play a key role in guiding the long-term vision and mission of BSA UK. They bring valuable experience and insight to ensure continuity and growth.
● MD Humayun Roshid – Founder/ Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
● Tasnim Sultana Pria Syed – Founder/ Executive Director
● Sheikh Mohammad Nafis Fuad Niloy – Founder/ Director of Student Support Services.
● Subah Noor – Founder/Director of Cultural Affairs
● MD Eyamin Hossain – Founder/Director of Marketing
● Executive Officers: Elected annually by members, Executive Officers oversee BSA UK’s daily operations, lead projects, and represent the organization within student communities and to external partners.
● General Committee: Comprising elected student representatives, the General Committee ensures that a broad spectrum of student voices is heard in governance. They collaborate on initiatives and provide feedback from the wider student community.
● Advisory Board: The Advisory Board consists of experienced professionals who provide guidance on governance, strategy, and finance. They offer expertise to help BSA UK remain responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities.
Governance Principles
● Transparency: BSA UK is committed to openness in decision-making. We publish key documents, including financial statements and strategic plans, on our website for members to review.
● Accountability: The Board is accountable to BSA UK members, ensuring that our actions align with the association’s mission and values. Regular reports and updates keep the community informed of our progress.
● Inclusivity: We strive to represent the diverse voices within our student community, valuing input from Bangladeshi, British-Bengali, and European-Bengali students across the UK.
● Financial Stewardship: The Board maintains a clear focus on financial responsibility, ensuring that funds are allocated to best serve our members and support our mission.
Annual General Meeting (AGM)
BSA UK holds an Annual General Meeting (AGM), where members review the organization’s progress, provide feedback, and participate in key decision-making processes. The AGM is an opportunity for members to engage directly with Board members, ask questions, and vote on important issues affecting the association’s future.
Committees and Working Groups
To address specific areas of need and interest, BSA UK forms committees and working groups. These groups address issues such as student welfare, event planning, and community outreach, creating opportunities for members to engage and contribute.
